Promising signs for Tickford Racing in Perth

15/05/2018

Mark Winterbottom and Cameron Waters have shown they are more than capable of matching it with the best.

Cameron Waters kicked off his Perth SuperSprint campaign with a promising second in qualifying, before dropping back to sixth during Saturday’s Race 11.

Race 12 saw the 2017 Sandown 500 Champion drop back to last at one point, before scrambling to 13th place.

Mark Winterbottom started at Barbagallo Raceway in stunning fashion.  Mark finished sixth in qualifying and backed this up with an impressive second in Saturday’s Race 11.

This was Frosty’s first podium finish of 2018 and his 117th podium finish of his career. He now ranks third in Supercars history for most podium finishes.

Unfortunately for the Supercars veteran he could not replicate Saturday’s success in Sunday’s Race 12 at Barbagallo Raceway.

Finishing 21st after first lap contact with Richie Stanaway, Frosty battled a steering issue throughout the 83-lap race.

Chaz Mostert was fairly consistent at Barbagallo Raceway finishing eight in practice, before dropping back to 10th in Race 11.

In Race 12, Chaz was the leading Tickford Racing driver finishing 11th, yet tyre degradation was the reason for holding him back.

The team will head to Winton Motor Raceway in Victoria for Races 13 and 14 of 2018, which will be contested across May 18-20.
